As part of our Showcase Series of interviews with the people involved in the US$ 600 million Shuqaiq 3 Independent Water Project (IWP), we return to the Saudi Arabian construction site to talk to Luis Morales, Technical Director at the plant.<\/p>\n\n\n

With construction well underway, Luis discusses the complexities of the development in this new video, specifically the Reverse Osmosis (RO) process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He offers viewers an exclusive insight into how one of the largest desalination plants in the world will soon be fully operational, using more than 7,000 reverse osmosis pressure vessels, equivalent to 54 kilometers, with more than 45,000 membranes working simultaneously to produce more than 18 million liters of pure water per hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s 450,000 cubic meters per day, or around 180 Olympic size swimming pools.<\/p>\n\n\n

Located on the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia, Shuqaiq 3 is being developed by a consortium including Abdul Latif Jameel Energy\u2019s water solutions company, Almar Water Solutions<\/a>, and Abdul Latif Jameel Enterprises<\/a>; the project has already won awards<\/a> as recognition of the importance of the project in the area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
