Today, we are joining #GenerationRestoration in recognizing, celebrating and taking action on World Environment Day<\/a>, Saturday June 5, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n

The United Nations Environment Programme<\/a> (UNEP)\u2019s mission is to revive the planet in just 10 years.  Ambitious . . .   but possible, and it\u2019s going to take participation, collaboration, persistence and commitment from everyone in order to be achieved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fady Jameel, Deputy President and Vice Chairman, Abdul Latif Jameel, who writes here about redesigning our cities<\/a> for the 21st<\/sup> Century, says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere are many choices we can make today that will affect whether we can be close to a zero-emissions energy system in 2050.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMaking those right choices will ultimately help to drive the economy, protect the environment and safeguard our societies in future.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

While we cannot turn back time, we can grow trees, green our cities, rewild our gardens, change our diets, and clean up our rivers and coasts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here at Abdul Latif Jameel, we are challenging ourselves\u2026  our employees\u2026  and you, to answer the call to be active and bold in protecting our planet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the wake of COVID-19, the most forward-looking businesses are not getting \u2018back to business\u2019, they are looking outward to \u2018different and better business\u2019<\/a>.  This too is our aim.<\/p>\n\n\n

The crisis created the opportunity to shape the future, rather than react to the present, ensuring the safety of us all and bolster our resilience of both business and society in the face of the greatest adversities.  It is no exaggeration to say that the future of our society, our way of life, even of our planet itself, depends on our ability to halt and possibly reverse the impacts and damage of climate change. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Future generations are counting on us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
