It\u2019s clear in the last year that the overriding topic of conversation, focus and concern is COVID-19 and the aftermath of a global health pandemic.  One of the not-so-obvious problems with crises like this is that they take your eye off the ball when it comes to the pressing issues facing our planet today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The accelerating threat of climate change is suffering a dangerous relegation from a position of \u2018too big to ignore\u2019\u2026 to \u2018we\u2019re too busy to tackle this\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, on International Mother Earth Day (April 22, 2021), it is an appropriate time to remind ourselves that we need a shift to a more sustainable economy that works for both people . . .
\nand planet.  At Abdul Latif Jameel, we are aligning with the United Nations\u2019 call to promote harmony with nature and the Earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pandemic poses huge public health and economic risks, but climate change has the power to do even greater harm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Displacing hundreds of millions of people, rendering large swathes of our world uninhabitable, driving mass migration and even conflict, and costing multiple trillions of dollars to rectify.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
