this, because of where they were born.&nbsp; We believe a person\u2019s birthplace, proximity to infrastructure, or lack of wealth should not be a barrier to access to modern healthcare<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/westernpacific\/news\/events\/world-health-day\">World Health Day 2021<\/a>, we are joining the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/\">United Nations<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/westernpacific\">World Health Organization<\/a> in working to <strong>build a fairer, healthier world for everyone<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jiS_-wrtPBE<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n<p>The world is still dramatically unequal:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Two-thirds of sub-Saharan countries fail the World Health Organization global target of 80% of people living within two hours of a hospital<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More than 287 million people \u2013 including 64 million women of child-bearing age \u2013 live more than two hours away from medical care (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/westernpacific\">WHO<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More than 1 billion people living in informal settlements or slums face increased challenges in preventing infection (<a href=\"https:\/\/sdgs.un.org\/goals\/goal11\">UN SDG<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Life expectancy sits at 53 years old in Central African Republic, while it is 82 years old in the Netherlands (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/data\/gho\/whs-2020-visual-summary\">WHO<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.alj3.clients.lemonhq.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/ALJ-Healthcare-Rich-and-Poor-scaled-1.jpg\" alt=\"ALJ Healthcare Rich and Poor\"
