It will produce around 300 gigawatt hours (GWh) of clean energy per year, helping avoid the emissions of 223,000 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) annually. The project will contribute to Spain\u2019s Long-Term Decarbonization Strategy to achieve greenhouse gas emissions neutrality by 2050.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A ceremony was held to inaugurate the solar farm and was attended by <a href=\"https:\/\/media.alj.com\/en\/our-people\/fady-jameel\/\">Fady Jameel<\/a>, Deputy Chairman and Vice Chairman, Abdul Latif Jameel, Fernando Salinas, Managing Director of FRV Iberia, F\u00e9lix Bola\u00f1os, &nbsp;the Minister of the Presidency, Relations with Parliament and Democratic Memory, and Guillermo Fern\u00e1ndez-Vara, the President of the Regional Government of Extremadura, among other figures from the central, regional and local administrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fady Jameel said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe commissioning of this new solar farm in Spain reflects our efforts to support the country in its decarbonization process. It is a testament to our belief in sustainable and renewable energy as a strategic pillar that will support and drive economic, social, and environmental advancements for future generations.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Fernando Salinas commented on the project:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;With the start-up of San Serv\u00e1n 400 we continue to strengthen our presence in Extremadura, Spain, which remains a priority location where we have great prospects for the future. In addition, the generation of clean, renewable energy from this plant will allow us to continue contributing to the decarbonization of our energy sector and others, and to their independence from fossil fuel sources&#8221;.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>F\u00e9lix Bola\u00f1os said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;Extremadura is at the forefront of renewable energy in Spain and Europe. The ecological transition is fundamental to Spain&#8217;s development, hence all the effort the government is making to ensure that our country becomes a world power in renewable energy by 2050. The investments being made today in San Servan are investments for the future of Spain.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Guillermo Fern\u00e1ndez-Vara commenting on the sidelines of the ceremony said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;This is just the tip of the iceberg. Behind it comes a change in the model of life, consumption, employment, development, and the possibility of placing Spain at the forefront of the world. We have an opportunity as a country, and Extremadura as a region, that we never had before with the arrival of these projects, and we have to know how to rise to the occasion.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Its construction has been carried out through a <a href=\"https:\/\/frv.com\/frv-construira-tres-plantas-fotovoltaicas-en-extremadura-con-financiacion-de-bbva-y-natixis\/\">financing agreement with BBVA and Natixis<\/a> for an amount of $94 million USD (89 million euros) under the project finance modality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>San Serv\u00e1n 400 is part of the&nbsp; \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/frv.com\/commitment\/frv-scholarship\/\">Young Talented Leaders<\/a>\u201d program, a joint educational initiative between FRV and the Instituto de Empresa Foundation, which awards scholarships to young students who demonstrate academic merit and an entrepreneurial spirit. The scholarship covers all education and training expenses, including tuition, accommodation, academic materials, travel and living expenses in during the four years of the Bachelor&#8217;s Degree at IE University in Spain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>San Serv\u00e1n 400 is FRV&#8217;s third photovoltaic project in operation in Extremadura, Spain, following the commissioning of San Serv\u00e1n 220 (138 MWdc) in 2022 and La Solanilla (50 MWdc) in 2020.
