{"id":4162,"date":"2022-04-29T10:23:04","date_gmt":"2022-04-29T10:23:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.alj3.clients.lemonhq.io\/press-release\/frv-australia-metz-solar-farm-has-started-generating-clean-energy\/"},"modified":"2025-12-09T09:04:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-09T09:04:11","slug":"frv-australia-metz-solar-farm-has-started-generating-clean-energy","status":"publish","type":"pressrelease","link":"https:\/\/cms.alj3.clients.lemonhq.io\/en\/news\/frv-australia-metz-solar-farm-has-started-generating-clean-energy\/","title":{"rendered":"FRV Australia Metz Solar Farm has started generating clean energy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The solar PV power plant, which is currently in advanced stages of construction, will reach a capacity of 115 MWac, capable of meeting the energy demand of up to 40,000 households.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>With an area of 248 hectares, it is located next to Hillgrove 20 km East of Armidale, in New South Wales and contributes to the economic development of the local area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Leading developer of sustainable energy solutions, <a href=\"https:\/\/frv.com\/en\/tag\/australia\/\">Fotowatio Renewable Ventures<\/a> Australia, as part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alj.com\/en\/energy-and-environmental-services\/energy-overview\/\">Abdul Latif Jameel Energy<\/a> and Canadian infrastructure fund <a href=\"http:\/\/www.omersinfrastructure.com\/\">OMERS Infrastructure<\/a>, has started generating clean energy at its solar farm in Metz, Australia, which is expected to reach full capacity over the coming months. The plant will contribute to the energy needs and economic development of the local area, while helping to drive Australia\u2019s transition to green energy.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gUjoUTePO7E<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n<p>Covering 248 hectares and located in a rural area the plant will eventually have a net annual energy production capacity of approximately 320,000 MWh, with an output of 115 MWac, capable of meeting the energy demand of up to 40,000 households. It\u00b4s estimated that when Metz Solar Farm reaches 100% capacity will avoid 288.000 tons of Co2 emissions every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So far, the project has positively impacted the local community, creating more than 100 jobs during construction with the potential for further job openings once the operations phase begins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Metz Solar Farm project signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Snowy Hydro in 2018 and closed the financing agreement in December 2020 with Westpac and NORD\/LB in the form of a Green Loan compliant with the Loan Market Association Green Loan Principles and the Green Projects requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FRV&#8217;s, Managing Director Australia, Carlo Frigerio, said &#8220;<em>We are excited to see another FRV\u2019s project start injecting clean electricity into the grid and we look forward to see the plant at its full capacity soon\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project brings FRV closer to its goal of decarbonizing the international energy system and building a more sustainable future in its target markets. Beon Energy Solutions (Beon) is the EPC Contractor carrying out the construction which is now reaching its final stages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/media.alj.com\/en\/our-people\/fady-jameel\/\">Fady Jameel<\/a>, Deputy President and Vice Chairman, Abdul Latif Jameel remarked: <em>&#8220;Shaping the future of the global energy sector is a key priority for Abdul Latif Jameel Energy alongside FRV.
