Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli, Minister of Environmental, Water and Agriculture.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Marked as one of Saudi Arabia\u2019s largest desalination plants, Shuqaiq 3 is capable of supplying 1.8 million people with drinking water.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The plant supports Saudi Arabia\u2019s drive for great sustainability and water security in line Vision 2030 and as part of its contribution to the global green agenda.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>With Shuqaiq 3\u2019s development, Almar builds on its pipeline of major water infrastructure projects across 25 countries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Shuqaiq 3 desalination plant, located in the province of Jizan, in southwestern Saudi Arabia, was inaugurated in a ceremony organized under the patronage of HRH Prince Mohammad Bin Nasser and HE Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli, Minister of Environmental, Water and Agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recognized as one of Saudi Arabia\u2019s largest desalination plants, Shuqaiq 3 has a total production capacity of 450,000 cubic meters per day, capable of meeting the water demand of over 1.8 million Saudis across the Asir and Jizan provinces. In addition, this is the region\u2019s first large-scale plant that uses energy-efficient pure reverse osmosis technology, capable of supplying up to 150 Hm3 (gigaliters) of high-quality water annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The inauguration ceremony, held in the Chamber of Commerce Hall in Jazan City, was presided by HE Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli, Minister of Environmental, Water and Agriculture together with numerous authorities such as HE Eng. Abdullah Al-Abdulkarim, Governor of the Saline Water Conversion Corporation and HE Eng. Khaled Alqureshi, CEO of Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC). HE \u00c1lvaro Iranzo, Spanish Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, also attended together with members of the Consortium, including Vice Chairman and CEO of Abdul Latif Jameel Enterprises, <a href=\"https:\/\/media.alj.com\/en\/our-people\/faisal-alsamannoudi\/\">Faisal S. Alsamannoudi<\/a>, and representatives of Almar Water Solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The plant was constructed by a consortium formed by <a href=\"https:\/\/almarwater.com\">Almar Water Solutions<\/a>, through <a href=\"https:\/\/alj-enterprises.com\/\">Abdul Latif Jameel Enterprises<\/a>, ACCIONA, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marubeni.com\/en\/\">Marubeni Corporation<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rawafidholding.sa\/\">Rawafid Alhadarah Holding Co<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recognized across the water sector as one of the most complex, innovative and sustainable plants in its class, in September 2019, Shuqaiq 3 was awarded the <a href=\"https:\/\/almarwater.com\/the-shuqaiq-3-desalination-project-receives-the-utilities-project-of-the-year-award\/\">&#8220;Utilities Project of the Year&#8221; at the Middle East Energy Awards 2019<\/a> held in Dubai, UAE, consolidating its position as one of the region\u2019s flagship projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the plant will contribute to the Kingdom\u2019s drive for great sustainability and water security in line with Vision 2030, in addition to its broader ambition to further align with the global green agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/almarwater.com\/company\/\">Carlos Cos\u00edn<\/a>, CEO of Almar Water Solutions, commented:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201c<em>We are very proud of how the construction of the Shuqaiq 3 desalination plant was carried out<\/em>.<em> The challenge of COVID-19 put us to the test and brought out the best of everyone involved in the project.
