{"id":3817,"date":"2021-06-17T12:38:08","date_gmt":"2021-06-17T12:38:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.alj3.clients.lemonhq.io\/press-release\/abdul-latif-jameel-energys-frv-announces-first-hybrid-pv-solar-storage-project-in-australia\/"},"modified":"2025-12-09T09:01:20","modified_gmt":"2025-12-09T09:01:20","slug":"abdul-latif-jameel-energys-frv-announces-first-hybrid-pv-solar-storage-project-in-australia","status":"publish","type":"pressrelease","link":"https:\/\/cms.alj3.clients.lemonhq.io\/en\/news\/abdul-latif-jameel-energys-frv-announces-first-hybrid-pv-solar-storage-project-in-australia\/","title":{"rendered":"Abdul Latif Jameel Energy\u2019s FRV announces first hybrid PV solar-storage project in Australia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>FRV has begun construction of the Dalby Hybrid Power Plant in Queensland, Australia<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One of the first of its kind in the country, the hybrid solar-storage project will combine a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with solar photovoltaic (PV) generation panels<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FRV\u2019s ninth project in Australia, the fully renewable plant will be its first hybrid project in the country<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Continuing its global expansion, this announcement is part of FRV\u2019s ambitious growth strategy to become the world\u2019s leading <a href=\"https:\/\/media.alj.com\/energy-and-environmental-services\/energy-overview\/\">green energy<\/a> and infrastructure platform<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.frv.com\/\">Fotowatio Renewable Ventures<\/a> (FRV), part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alj.com\/en\/energy-and-environmental-services\/energy-overview\/\">Abdul Latif Jameel Energy<\/a> and one of the world\u2019s leading <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alj.com\/en\/energy-and-environmental-services\/energy-overview\/\">renewable energy companies<\/a>, will develop its first Solar\/Storage Hybrid Power Plant in the Dalby region of Queensland, Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Dalby Hybrid Power Plant is projected to generate 5 MWdc of power once completed and will combine a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) facility with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alj.com\/en\/energy-and-environmental-services\/solar-power-solutions\/\">solar photovoltaic<\/a> (PV) generation panels, making it one of the first of its kind in Australia. It is expected to be operating at full capacity by early 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Dalby project continues FRV\u2019s global expansion in the utility-scale storage systems sector and the growth of its pipeline of energy storage capacity. Queensland\u2019s electricity distribution network, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ergon.com.au\/\">Ergon<\/a>, will enable the plant to supply and take electricity from the grid, and simultaneously trade in the <a href=\"https:\/\/aemo.com.au\/en\/energy-systems\/electricity\/national-electricity-market-nem\">National Electricity Market<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of FRV\u2019s commitment to empowering local communities, the project is expected to bring job opportunities to the region: The company has mandated all construction partners to hire local contractors and utilize local suppliers wherever possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This project is FRV\u2019s ninth solar farm in Australia, leading to a total of approximately 640 MWdc of owned projects in the portfolio. In 2020, FRV closed 3 deals in Australia, demonstrating the company\u2019s resilience and strong commitment to growing its unique portfolio of solar assets in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/carlofrigerio\/\">Carlo Frigerio<\/a>, Managing Director of FRV Australia, stated:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cBESS are needed to support further investment in Queensland\u2019s renewables and help maintain system security and reliability. This project will be critical to region\u2019s future energy supply and security as renewable energy capacity increases, with storage supporting solar and wind-generated power to be supplied to the market when it is most needed. The inclusion of PV as part of the project&nbsp;shows the importance of integrating&nbsp;solar and batteries in order to&nbsp;deliver dispatchable power\u201d.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Felipe Hernandez, Global Managing Director of FRV-X, added:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cFRV is already collaborating with governments, regulators, and partners around the world to lay the foundations for a new energy model. Energy storage plays a central and critical role to fully realize the power of renewable energy, and FRV acknowledges the value of this technology as a key element to achieve a decarbonized society\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>FRV has a positive growth trajectory across its key markets and beyond, aiming to invest more than US$ 1.5 billion with the goal of doubling total installed capacity from 2 GW in 2021 to 4 GW in 2024.
