Over US$ 600m will be invested in the project, creating 700 jobs, in line with Saudi Arabia\u2019s Vision 2030 and its objectives to increase investment and employment opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The large-scale plant will have a capacity of 450,000 cubic meters per day, guaranteeing reliable drinking water for over 1.8 million citizens. Scheduled for completion in Q4 2021, the project will be developed under a 25-year build-own-operate (BOO) scheme contract.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/KITq7UXrWQE<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n<p>A consortium comprising Marubeni Corporation, Abdul Latif Jameel Commercial Development Company, Acciona Agua and Rawafid Alhadarah Holding Co. signed the Water Purchase Agreement during a ceremony in Riyadh on the January 28, 2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/media.alj.com\/en\/our-people\/fady-jameel\/\">Fady M. Jameel<\/a>, Deputy President and Vice Chairman of Abdul Latif Jameel Company added: \u201cInnovative energy-intensive water schemes are essential to meeting the rising demand of our region and the world\u2019s growing population for water.
